I just checked the list of accepted projects for google summer of code (1025).
Here is the list of those projects, which are interesting in my humble opinion:
- Optimizing rendering of XBMC and aiding the port to ARM
- USB sniffer on Beagle Board (The Beagle Board is used as hardware USB sniffer)
- USB drivers for libpayload (Boot from USB support for coreboot)
- flashrom 1.0 (advanced flashing of BIOS chips)
- MultiArch support in APT (making use of x86 compability on x86-64)
- Debian-installer on Neo FreeRunner
- Implementing a multicast package download method for APT
- git-remote-svn | Native SVN support in Git
- Libgit2
- Ease: presentation authoring tool (using clutter and vala)
- GTK+ refactoring to make possible GTK+ 3
- 3D support (for gstreamer)
- VDPAU support (for gstreamer)
- Cairo rendering (for inkscape)
- Wireless Linux - Improve wireless roaming (for linux)
- Porting Canola to Maemo 5 and beyond
- Addition of Multi-touch and Gesture Recognition support to SDL
- XRender Support (for SDL)
- Cairo State Tracker (for Xorg using Gallium3D)
- Content-aware Config Files Upgrading (for Debian)
